Dr. Bekka graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Lehigh University College of Engineering. She then complete four years at University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery to receive her DDS degree. Dr. Tannen then completed two years of a general practice residency at St. Barnabas Hospital, Bronx NY. After completion of residency she began her journey of discovery with the completion of a one year fellowship in Special Care Dentistry and the Rose F. Kenney Center of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Bekka completed her two year Pediatric Dental Residency at St. Barnabas Hospital; a level I trauma center in 1999 and immediately began teaching as an associate attending post-graduation; She became a diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry in 2006. Dr. Tannen is currently the section chief of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at St. Barnabas Hospital and has been practicing in Dutchess and Putnam Counties for the past 15 years.
When not teaching or practicing pediatric dentistry Dr. Bekka enjoys spending time with her husband Greg watching him perform as the lead singer of Vinyl Meltdown a local band performing in Westchester and Rockland Counties. Her favorite home activities are coloring and watching Fairy movies with her daughter Zoe and cuddling with their boxer Laila.
